The Israel Summer Seminar Begins!

Hi there, to all family and friends!!

As you may know, the communication committee (and other teens in the group) will be writing a blog on a daily basis to keep you all informed about the great things we’re up to.

After a long and tiring trip, including lots of Swiss chocolate and heavy luggage, the group was greeted at the airport by Diller teens and staff who had arrived early. After many hugs and a quick bite to eat, we were off to our first excursion to Jaffa. Ice breakers and a few opening activities gave us the chance to get to know our wonderful tour guide, Nanak, and boost our energy. Nanak then told us the story of the first aliah to Israel from Russia at the port of Jaffa. After walking around a little and taking pictures in front of gorgeous views, we headed to Kfar Hayarok, a youth village where we are spending the night. The group concluded the day with a ma’agal laila, going over the high and low points of the day.

It is only our first day in Israel, but the excitement has really sunk in and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for tomorrow!!

Our Pre-Israel Summer Seminar Meeting

Hi All!

This past Sunday we had a Diller meeting about Israel and although it was SO early in the morning on a Sunday everybody showed up excited and enthusiastic about our leadership trip to Israel in less than a month!!! :)

We started off the meeting by watching a stereotypical clip of the "typical" Israeli from The Simpsons which personally, i found hilarious. We had a discussion about what stereotypes people might have of us, and how we want to be seen by others, before discussing how we should be acting as ambassadors of the Diller program and Montreal. Afterwards, we went through our itinerary, and realized how amazing this summer would be. Everyone then got into their groups to start planning what their group would be leading for the rest of the Diller teens while we're in Israel (Shabbat, speeches, community service planning) and lots of other great stuff. I have a feeling that this will be an unforgettable summer!
